Building Momentum For Your Life

Building Momentum For Your Life

It is said that you can take a 4”x4” block of wood and place it in front of a steam engine train and it cannot move. Let that same train build up its speed to 50 mph, and it can blow through a 10’x10’ steel reinforced block of concrete. That is the power of momentum.

Here are two simple principles of life that when applied daily can build momentum in your life:

obstacles

#1 Start Stepping Out In Faith.

In other words, start acting on what you believe in. If you believe in what you are doing you can trust the effort you place in it. Edmund Burke is quoted as saying “All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.”

Most of our troubles are often a result of neglect. A man recently told me the hardest machine to operate in a gym is the front door. Momentum requires action.

#2 Celebrate The Victories In Your Life.

We praise a child for coloring a picture that is all over the page and out of the lines. Why? Because we know that if we can keep them coloring, eventually they will get better.

The more we celebrate the little wins in life, the quicker and greater the big wins will appear. Jesus said that when we see our world falling apart around us to “look up, for your redemption draweth nigh!”

He is saying don’t focus on the negatives, but keep your eyes on the prize. Nothing builds momentum like victories along the way, and celebration causes us to keep our “Eyes on the Prize.”

Two simple principles of life guaranteed to build momentum. If I could sum it up in a simple sentence – “Be an Optimist!” Which of these two definitions do you want to live ?

Optimist (def) – To Anticipate the best Possible Outcome. Pessimist (def) – Inclination to take the Least Favorable View.

I teach this at the church: Never say you are down. Say either “I’m up or I’m on my way up.”

Are you – Building Momentum For Your Life? If not; why not?
