Sowing Seeds Of Words That Matter

The Caller

You Matter:

Over 33 years ago while I was a lost soul attending the University of Southern Mississippi, an evangelist would visit the campus.

Reverend Jim was what the rambunctious students called him as they taunted and challenged him on every thing he said.

I knew nothing about God’s word then, but I always stayed toward the back of the crowd.

Sure, I kinda laughed, but I listened.

His courage and conviction to stand on an old wooden crate with nothing more than a megaphone and preach the gospel of Jesus Christ enraptured my attention.

I didn’t know it then, but he was planting seeds in my spirit that would bud before blooming a few years later. Of course, he has no idea who I was back then, but he mattered. His words and actions mattered, just like ours do today.

People are watching us. Mostly it’s our kids who will learn their first impressions of God by watching their dads.

What seeds are we planting in the souls of those watching us?

Let them be positive, life affirming seeds!

Much Love/Respect, Scott

Again Jesus began teaching by the lake. A great crowd gathered around him, so he sat down in a boat near the shore. All the people stayed on the shore close to the water. Jesus taught them many things, using stories. He said, “Listen! A farmer went out to plant his seed. While he was planting, some seed fell by the road, and the birds came and ate it up. Some seed fell on rocky ground where there wasn’t much dirt. That seed grew very fast, because the ground was not deep. But when the sun rose, the plants dried up because they did not have deep roots. Some other seed fell among thorny weeds, which grew and choked the good plants. So those plants did not produce a crop. Some other seed fell on good ground and began to grow. It got taller and produced a crop. Some plants made thirty times more, some made sixty times more, and some made a hundred times more.” Then Jesus said, “Let those with ears use them and listen!” Mark 4:1-9
