Show me yours…

“Show me your friends and I’ll show you your future.” That’s not just some cool quote or a random idea from Google. It’s a Biblical concept.

In Proverbs 13:20, Solomon, the wise-guy, wrote: “He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.”

It’s just like your mother always told you – Be careful who you hang around; Be careful who you associate with; Guard who pours into your life. Don’t let just anyone come in and start placing things or speaking things into your life. Guard your heart. Guard your mind. Guard your soul.

Why? Because evil communications corrupt good manners. They corrupt good actions. They corrupt the right mindset. They change the way we interact with those around us.

An old Jewish proverb says: “A friend is one who warns you.” Fools don’t do that. They’re caught up in themselves, but a true friend is caught up in YOU. Again, a true friend is one who warns you. Friendship is on the decline.

We are more connected and yet more isolated than at any other time in history. We’ve traded:

  1. Trust for “Tweets”

  2. Smiles for “Statuses”

  3. Love for “Likes”

  4. Conversations for “Comments.”

“A friend loveth at all times.” You can have 1,000 people on your newsfeed and have none of them be a true friend. Why? Because “a friend loveth at all times.”

Maybe you need to make some additions or maybe, just maybe, you need to make some subtractions. Sometimes UNFRIENDING is just as important as FRIENDING.

Again, show me your friends and I’ll show you your future. And if there’s One Friend who could ever affect your future, it’s Jesus.

Lord Bless,
