A while back someone sent me a gift certificate of $400 to buy a suit. I never wore a $400 anything in my life! Believe me my children let me know they can see that.
The generous gift allowed me to purchase two suits and some accessories. I haven’t found out who gave the gift. I have operated my gift of suspicion, but it was never confirmed to me. Whoever did this understood the principle of doing things secretly and being rewarded openly.
Matthew 6:3-4 “But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly.
A Christian must be determined to not bring glory to themselves, but to bring glory to God. Jesus said, “Let your light so shine before men that they should see your good works and glorify God” (Matthew 5:16).
Our good should be the focus of our lifestyle, not our personal desire for applause. A life lived like that is blessed of God and God will decide what applause you may have. It is so unfortunate to see gifted people destroyed by fame they are not spiritually equipped to handle.
The Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 12:21, “overcome evil with good.” Sowing good every day of your life will overcome the evil in your community, but it will also openly cause you to be rewarded by God. Start secretly doing nice things for people you work with and people you live with, and watch their lives be lifted and your life be blessed.
