My oldest brother sent me an email. It broke my heart. He’s not far from 70 years old. He, like me and our 5 siblings have suffered greatly from past pain.
I was lied to most of my life by so many well-intended people. Guess what? Time does not heal all wounds. Please, take the time to read the proof:
Scott after we moved to…it was me, sister, sister and brother. He was just a little bitty baby. Daddy put up a basketball hoop. I would go watch the high school team practice, They had this code “high/low”, Did it mean “go high” “go low” I don’t think so. I didn’t know what it meant. I just repeated it. Sister and I were playing in the driveway and Daddy walked by, he looked me and said, “Stupid” it has stuck my whole life.
Our words hold the power of life and death. Unfortunately, I’d guess most of us could share an experience of harsh words that caused incredible pain. It doesn’t fade or get forgotten. It causes us to hurt.
Pain from our past also shows itself in many external ways. Pain can manifest as alcoholism, drug addiction, sexual sin, pornography, depression, violence and suicide. The longer we allow it to fester inside, the greater the troubles we experience on the outside.
The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.Proverbs 18:21
You can know freedom from past pain. There is only one source for that life-restoring relief. That comes from Jesus Christ. He knows our burdens. He’s suffered as we have, and He wants to free you from your past.
All you have to do is call out to Him. Some people ask why doesn’t He just take care of it. He will, but God has blessed us with free will. We wanted it, and because He loves us, we got it. Therefore, Jesus will come, but only when we ask.
“Look! I have been standing at the door, and I am constantly knocking. If anyone hears me calling him and opens the door, I will come in and fellowship with him and he with me.Revelation 3:20
Please, free yourself from the pain, shame and guilt of suffering with past personal pain. You can live a blessed life. Christ is the answer.
