Give Respect Even Before It’s Earned If I had a nickel for everytime I suggested to a wife that they should show their husband respect and they responded with, “As soon as he deserves it, I will.” I’d have a bunch of nickels. Against Your Grain I know it’s counterintuitive to give something you don’t think someone else deserves, but there are a few biblical truths at work right here. The first involves judging others and the other is sowing and reaping. Men have a need for re
I wanted to go but I just didn’t have the time or the money. That’s been the story most of my adult life, so what did I do? I did something about it. It’s hard for men to take off of work and bear the burden of traveling to workshops focused on them. I reached out to my closest and most trusted brothers in Christ and asked them to join me bringing the best men’s workshop directly to you. April 6 and 7, 2020, we’re hosting over 20 top influencers from pastors to firefighters.
Everytime we walk out of a relationship, we make ourselves disposable. Everytime we walk out of church, we make ourselves disposable. Everytime we walk out on us, we make ourselves disposable. Manly-Go-Round Do you believe we were created to be kings and priests in God’s kingdom? Realizing our value as men is one of our biggest hurdles. We’ve been fed a diet of disposability and now all we can digest is failure, criticism and grudges against others. “…and has made us kings an
I’m back! I took the summer off while the kids were home, and committed to taking a break from The Bro Code until they begrudgingly returned to classes. Well, today, we hugged them goodbye and said, “Hurry up, or you’ll miss your ride.” I’m Not Angry I love God. I’m so crazy about the Big Guy that in addition to reading His love letter (the Bible), I entered seminary because I want to know even more about Him. The challenge is that the more I get to know God, the less I see o
We Have A Crisis Look around your church on any given service and the odds are you’ll see more women and kids than you will men. Why? Because men have left the building. And therein lies the problem. Church has become about the building, not the body. Although today’s mega-churches are pulling in thousands of people every week, fewer and fewer of them are men. The building as a holy place where holy people gather to act holy once a week isn’t keeping men in the seats. Honestl
“Tell me who you spend time with and I will tell you who you are.” ~ Goethe The Myth You’ve seen the commercials. Guys kicking it on the golf course, at the beach, chasing the ladies out on the town, or confessing their sins to one another. What, you’ve not seen the last scenario in the media? That’s odd. Men struggle making friends with other men. Maybe it’s the alpha male, leader of the pack mentality that stands in the way of becoming true companions, but men today are mor
What does God look like to you? Where did that image come from? What if how you “see” God actually stops you from seeing Him? I See You…Not The way we think about God is usually based on our family, culture, education and experiences. It’s called pre-understanding and it’s only natural because what you know is what you know. It had never occurred to me, but when I began truly looking for God, I set out with an image in mind. Thanks to that image, the only God I was going to f
Have you ever disappointed anyone? Has anyone ever disappointed you? If you reply no to either or both, there really isn’t much need to read past this point. If you’re sticking with me on this, then thanks! One thing that does hold true is that everyone drops the ball at one time or another. No one is perfect. We’re human, and that makes us far from perfection. Unfortunately, what we can perfectly depend on is that as long as we mold ourselves to fit into what someone else wa
Why Men Walk Away: Generational Prodigals We’re trapped in a vicious cycle. By we, I mean me. Well, not just me, but men, or at least a lot of men, if not most. Was that confusing? Welcome to the world of why men walk away. We’ll stand the gap for friends, coworkers and people we’ve never met before, but our families fade into the midst as America’s men walk away. Why do we do it, what are the costs, and most importantly, how do we fix this? Walk Away Gene Before I came to kn
Too Late? Do you think it’s ever too late to change? Of course I understand the longer we wait, the harder it is to change. When we factor in the man card, it can get even more difficult to push improvement. The Bro Code Series isn’t about getting a ripped six-pack, or rippling biceps for the beach. This is about building the better man according to God’s design. I know it’s easier to get men to read a workout book than it is to read about looking at our life in a mirror. Nev
YOUR NEXT STEP
Procrastination is sometimes just the fear of taking the next step. You think you’re stuck until you realize you just haven’t made the decision to move. The steps of a man are established by the LORD, when he delights in his way.

Don’t Miss Your Future By Looking Back God has a blessing for us, but we waste more effort looking back than we do pressing forward. Eyes on the prize!! Lion Taming What lions are lurking to rip you to shreds. Are your lions named for past pains, Regret and Guilt? Do you feel like Daniel in the lion’s den? If so, there is no fear of the beasts. God will protect you and bless you even in your darkest times. Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”1 Peter 5:8 #Men #ScottSilverii #manhood #LionsDen #HolySpirit #Christ #Bible #God #Jesus #Devoti

What Golden Calf Are You Worshiping? Studying Exodus I read over Chapter 32, and the golden calf. I wondered how could they be so quick to turn their backs away from God after everything He’d done for them? But I understood that we do the same thing when we create our own golden calves. It might be our job, or hobby, or new girlfriend or even our kids. Let’s not put God in a box, and definitely not in some artificial idol where we define who He is. Allow the Holy Spirit to bl
God has two words for you this year…
Purposeful & Intentional Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. ~ Ephesians 5:15-17 #ReligionandSpirituality #Men #ScottSilverii #manhood #BrickBreakers #HolySpirit #God #mensministry #Jesus
Approaching The New Year Happily This week’s reading in Hebrews has been all about faith. We watch so many friends struggle with the courage to face another year. When in reality, it’s just another day on the calendar. The frenzy to make resolutions is more about traditions than realistic expectation to uphold the silent pledge just before the stroke of midnight. The word God placed on my heart this week has been “faith.” The book of Hebrews gives so many examples of faithful
